Wellingborough Town
3-0 Great Doddington Green

MOTM – Sam

Another good win for the Blues against a strong Doddington side who never gave up!  This week the Blues were in a game unlike most weeks. It was a good performance against a strong physical Doddington team. The boys started a little slower than usual but still displayed the same determination which they display week after week.

Wellingborough had most of the best chances during the first half, with Doddington always causing one or two problems for us. Only good defending and good goal keeping kept them out. Wellingborough came in 1 – 0 at half time. The goal was scored by Sean. After the half time team talk it was clear we needed to work a little harder and be more composed in front of the goal. The second half was almost a repeat of the first half with Wellingborough again creating the better of the chances, but Doddington were always a threat as well. Two more goals followed in the second half with Sean scoring his second of the game and Dante getting a well deserved goal as well. Charlie and Jamie both had excellent goal scoring opportunities but both boys lacked composure at the vital moment.

This game was also Freeman’s versus Freeman’s as both teams had children playing Tom, Sam, Charlie & Alex for the Blues and Robert & Harry for Doddington. This week’s bragging rights go to the Blues.

Today’s man of the match was Sam for his outstanding performance today (superb well done Sam).

A great team effort again and long may it continue.

Rushden Rangers Green 0 – 7 Wellingborough Town Blues

Goal Scorers –  Dante 3, Denver 1, Alex 1,Charlie 2

MOTM -  Dante

Wellingborough was eager to get this game started after a 20 minute delay due to the fresh frosty weather conditions.

I was pleasantly surprised that the games went ahead. The game wasn’t as one sided as last weeks game against Vic Farm.

The Blues passed the ball well this week and could have scored with nearly every attack, the Rushden boys kept it tight for the first 8 minutes.

The Blues had to work hard at their passing and moving, but his week everything just seem to click with every player wanting the ball and every player much better than they did last week.

We eventually ran out winning 0 – 7 with Dante getting another hat trick, Charlie chipped in with a couple and Alex & Denver on the score sheet again.

All of the boys deserve MOTM but Dante‘s goals in recent weeks ensured he got the reward.

The boys should feel proud of themselves after this performance. All of the players played for one another this week and played extremely well.

Well Done boys!

Vicarage Farm Navy 0 – 3 Wellingborough Town Blues

Goal Scorers –  Dante 2, Denver 1

MOTM – Thomas

Wellingborough started well and dominated almost every minute of the first half with the three goals coming at regular intervals.

Vicarage Farm never threatened our goal and was penned in with every player back defending. This seems to be the way most teams set themselves up against us these days, content with damaged limitations, I myself don’t blame any coach for this type of tactic as we all play to our strengths.

The Wellingborough boys seemed to be playing more for themselves this week rather than playing as a team. The second half began with a 0 – 3 up and I expected more goals to follow. Although Vicarage Farm only had two shots at our goal, one of which was direct from a free kick.  The result was never going to be in question however we expected a little more from the boys. We couldn’t fault the boys for their effort, but if they pass the ball they will score goals.

At the final whistle the cheers from the Vicarage Farm team & coaches you would have thought they had won the game as they celebrated their 0 – 3 loss.

A little more work in training on communication and passing is required.

Well done boys for another win!

Earls Barton 0 – 12 Wellingborough Town Blues

MOTM – Sean

Wellingborough started at a much higher tempo today with every boy wanting the ball. They passed and moved the ball well today and were a joy to watch.

Wellingborough scored early which seemed to settle them down. Every player worked really hard closing down Earls Barton. The goals started coming at regularly intervals throughout the game. All of the boys played their part in this win. They ended the game in the same spirit as they started it, they never stopped running all game.

The goal scorers were Dante with 4 goals, Sean scored a hat trick, Alex scored one, Denver scored one and Charlie scored one.

The day really belongs to Jamie as all of his school friends play for Earls Barton. He himself helped himself to two goals and he has earnt the bragging rights for at least one week.

A great performance, well done boys!

Raunds Tigers 0 – 8 Wellingborough Town Blues

MOTM – Dante

Good to be back after the five week break.

Wellingborough started very well with all but one of the Tigers camped in their half, it was going to be hard to break them down. All of the boys kept continuous pressure on them so it was only a matter of time before we scored. We were 0 – 3 up by half time. The second half was just as good as the first with all the boys moving and passing well as there was very little space to be had. The goals started to flow with every out field player getting onto the score sheet.

A hat trick from Dante and one goal each from Alex, Thomas, Sean, Denver and Jamie. A great start to the New Year.

Well Done Boys!

16/12/07
Wellingborogh Town Blues 0 – 2 Wellingbororough Town

MOTM – Denver

The last game before the break with both Wellingborough teams playing good football and doing really well in this league.

The game was not a one sided affair as Geoff would have you believe! None of their goals actually came from their new formation. The first goal was an own goal deflected by Thomas direct from a corner. Their second goal was conceded by our own players losing possession whilst dribbling in our own defence. Josh took his goal really well.

The Blues created enough chances to get something out of this game, but today every shot either went wide or was taken from distance.

The real winner from this match was the football as both teams played the game with great attitude and good spirit.

Wellingborough Town has two very good football teams in this age group. Congratulations must go to both sets of boys for their efforts!

Mark & myself would like to thank all of the parents for their support for the season so far.

Have a good Christmas!

Wellingborough Town Blue 5-3 Volta FC

Goal Scorers – Denver , Alex 2, Jamie & Sean

MOTM – Denver

Another important game against Volta the only side left unbeaten. Wellingborough Town started the game a lot slower than usual and found ourselves 0 – 1 down inside the opening minutes of this match. We found ourselves camped in our own half for the opening five minutes. We looked like a team who hadn’t played together before, then slowly we began to play and got a well deserved equaliser scored by Denver . Volta then scored their second goal from a penalty just on the stroke of half time.

After getting the boys in at half time, after the team talk we saw the Wellingborough of old. The boys played like we knew they could and was a joy to watch as they out played Volta in every department. Alex then scored the equaliser then added his second and probably the best goal he will ever score to give us the lead for the first time. Jamie was on the score sheet again. His goal was almost as impressive as Alex’s second. Sean finished off the scoring for the Blues, just before Volta scored their third goal and best goal of the morning. Thomas worked as hard as ever as did Dante covering Thomas when he got forward. Sam made some important saves. Sean looked sharper this week. Charlie did well but looked a little tired towards the end.

As superb second half, well done boys

Sunday 25/11/2007
Higham Colts 2-3 Wellingborough Town Blue

Goal Scorers – Denver , Frazer & Sean

Today’s game was an important clash with two of the big four teams involved. Both teams, having only lost one game each, all season. The game was an end to end encounter with both teams playing good football. Wellingborough took the lead with a well taken goal taken by Denver , the goal keeper got a hand to it but wasn’t able to keep it out. Moments later Frazer thrashed the ball against the post. The boys carried on passing the ball around as well as we have all season. Both teams closed each other down so there wasn’t much space to be had.

Higham had a good chance to score but the shot was well wide of the target, then Frazer scored to make it 0 – 2 to the blues. By this time we were in total control, however then Higham scored their first goal due to a mix up in our defence. Five minutes later another mix up when we tried to dribble our way out of trouble and we were punished with scrappy goal, now we had a game.

Wellingborough heads never dropped they just got on with it and scored which was to be the winner. All of the supporters and team went wild and the noise must have been deafening for the Higham faithful. With only 5 minutes remaining we thought it was going to be backs to the wall defending but Wellingborough saw out the remaining minutes with ease as Higham looked tired and shocked that they could lose this game.

No man of the match today everybody played their part in this good win.

Superb effort today – well done boys

Wellingborough Town
11-0 Vicarage Farm Silver

MOTM – Team

Back to winning ways for Wellingborough Town . The main difference this week was they passed the ball, when they pass the ball they win games it’s as simple as that.

Wellingborough dominated this game from the kick off to the final whistle. The whole team worked extremely hard scrapping for every ball, even when we were winning easily. All the boys played their part today Charlie scored two more goals as did Sean, Dante and Alex scored one each and Jamie today scored his first hat trick and an og makes it ten. Every goal was well taken Thomas made sure we didn’t concede any goals and was unlucky not to score him self. We’re sure he will find the net soon.

Denver was also unlucky not to score as he had a very good game. Sam only touched the ball once but we’re not going to complain about that.

The reason there was no man of the match today was because everybody deserved it today.

Well done boys!

Wellingborough Town
1-2 Doddington White

MOTM – Thomas

Today Wellingborough suffered their first defeat of the season. After taking the lead with a goal scored by Charlie Doddington changed their tactics instead of playing football it was more like watching WWE wrestling with the Wellingborough boys getting no protection from the Doddington referee.

Doddington tripped, held & hacked all of our players. There was more off the ball activity than I’ve ever witnessed at this age. It may sound like sour grapes but at this age and level there’s no need for what went on and what went unpunished.

Now back to the game. Doddington are a strong physical team who are more than capable of beating anyone on their day without resorting to the above tactics. Doddington equalised with a simple ball being pumped into the box it could have gone anywhere but it found the back of the net. Two goal keepers would not have stopped that goal. Then Doddington took the lead with a little toe poke with their player just getting to the ball before Sam. Wellingborough had chances to equalise but today wasn’t our day. All the boys put in a lot of effort but with no protection from the referee this was always going to be a hard game to win.

Well done boys

Vicarage Farm Navy 0-11 Wellingborough Town

MOTM – Team

Today’s game had everything, blood sweat and tears, tough tackling and penalties!

Wellingborough Town started bright and fast as usual following on from last week’s performance. There were so many goals I couldn’t tell you the order of the scorers. Wellingborough’s first attack, with some slick one touch passing was then rammed home.

The passing was the most pleasing as the boys carved Vic Farm to pieces time and time again. Wellingborough came in 4 – 0 up at half time and having had a penalty saved. The half time team talk was the same as the first half, and let’s gets two or three more goals, but it turned into a goal feast as Vicarage Farm couldn’t match the Wellingborough Town boys in any department.

Dante was made captain today. He played extremely well receiving a fat lip for his efforts. Sean back to his best, scoring 4 goals. Charlie chipped in with 3 more. Denver added 2 more and Jamie scoring again. An own goal was scored after a corner was taken by Wellingborough.

All the boys took their goals extremely well. Alex had some good touches and looked much focused today. Daniel made his debut today and played his part in securing the victory.

Sam did nothing today except save a penalty – well done Sam! Finally Thomas was as reliable as ever ensuring Vicarage Farm’s chances were kept to a minimum.

Great passing today and a pleasure to watch.

Well done boys

Wellingborough Town Under 8 Blue

Sunday 28/10/07
Great Doddington Green 1 – 3 Wellingborough Town Blue

Wellingborough Town started the game as we do most weeks quicker than our opponents.

Doddington were a physical team but the boys handled them well. Denver opened the scoring when he beat two players and drilled the ball home scoring his first goal.

Dante made his debut today and scored with a well taken shot to put Wellingborough into a 2 - 0 lead.

All the boys worked extremely hard closing the ball down and getting there first. Sam had to do some work in this game and made a few good saves in windy conditions. Charlie again getting on the score sheet to put us 3 – 0 up.

Doddington pulled a goal back with a taken effort which left Sam with no chance.

Wellingborough Town passed the ball around today a lot better than in recent weeks and were never in any danger of losing this game as they were putting in as much effort at the end as they were when they started.

This was the best performance of the season because Doddington were better than most of our other opponents. There was no man of the match today as the whole team deserved it.

Excellent performance well done boys.

Wellingborough Town Blue 3-0 Stanwick Rovers

MOTM - Alex Wade

Wellingborough Town didn’t start as quick as in recent games, but were always in control of this game. Tough tackles were flying in from both teams. Stanwick to their credit tried to play football and didn’t defend in numbers which made for a pretty open game. With Wellingborough getting to the ball first, the midfield of Alex, Charlie and Denver worked as hard as ever. Today we had no subs available again.

Wellingborough Town took the lead when Alex slotted the ball home to score his first goal of the season. Jamie added the second just before half time. The second half was much the same as the first with Wellingborough having most of the ball. Thomas had to be at his best to deny Stanwick a chance in the second half. Charley scored the third goal. Wellingborough was then awarded a penalty which Charlie took, the goalkeeper made a terrific save. Alex was made captain for the day and scored a good goal.

This was a very good team performance.

Well done boys!

Grammarians 2 - 3 Wellingborough Town Blue

MOTM – Denver

Today’s game against Grammarians was always going to be tough with only 6 out of 10 players available.

Wellingborough Town got off to a good start and scored early, Jamie getting his second goal in as many games. Charlie doubled the lead and we were coasting. We were then awarded a penalty which Thomas took, he struck the ball very well but a little too close to the goalkeeper, who was their best player by far.

Grammarians pulled one back with a fluke of a shot but they all count. Charlie was on hand to make it 1 – 3 but Grammarians scored a good second goal. Although the score line looks a close game, the possession and the shots on target tell a different story as we had over 10 corners and about 20+ shots on target but it’s hard to break down a team with every player defending.

Congratulations must go to Grammarians keeper who was superb and kept the score as low as it was.

Sam had nothing to do again except pick the ball out of the net twice. Thomas had a great game despite having his penalty saved and he also rattled the post. Denver also had a great game doing everything that was asked of him. Alex is improving all of the time and his work rate is most pleasing. Jamie was made captain today, scored again, played up front on his own and is another player who is getting there. Charlie worked hard in mid field scoring another two goals. He shows good skill at times.

Every player worked their socks off today with no subs available.

Well done boys

Sunday 7/10/2007
Wellingborough Town Blue 6 - 0 South Rushden

Wellingborough started this week’s game a lot quicker and got into a 2-0 lead before half time goals from Sean and Charlie. The whole team were quicker, stronger and wanted it a bit more than South Rushden . It wasn’t as one sided as the score line suggests South Rushden did have some chances but every time they broke forward they were dealt with, with considerable ease.

In the second half Wellingborough scored 4 more goals from Sean & Jamie. In the last 5 minutes South Rushden were hanging on a bit and were just waiting for the final whistle.

Sam again had little to do except concentrate. Thomas makes defending look easy as South Rushden never got the ball past him. Denver again gets through his work with ease. Sean made today’s captain scored 4 goals but worked extremely hard for the team with his non stop running. Jamie had his best game to date by far. Also scoring his first goal for the club and was unlucky not to add to this today. Alex his non stop running in mid field hasn’t gone unnoticed and was unlucky not to score himself with some great shots. He will score soon we’re sure. Charlie again, in the right place at the right time, to score.

Today’s man of the match was Thomas. He won every tackle and broke forward to set up one of the goals.

Best team performance of the season so far

Terry & Mark

Sunday 30/09/2007
Ferrers Colts 2 - 3 Wellingborough Town

Another really good team performance much the same as last weeks with Wellingborough Town dominating in all areas and 0-2 up with goals from Charlie and Sean at half time and cruising.

I couldn’t see Ferrers getting a goal from anywhere however you make a defensive mistake and bang it’s 1-2.

One minute later direct from a free kick from which we did not defend properly and now it’s 2-2 but we were still dominating with most of the possession camped in their area for long periods.

Then in the final minute we get our breakthrough with Charlie scoring his second of the game and to be the eventual match winner.

Sam had nothing to do except pick the ball out of the goal twice.

Thomas had another good game always composed.

Denver solid work as ever. Sean took his goal well and has lots of energy and skill.

Alex making good progress and his work rate has improved.

Jamie put in a lot of effort today and is also making good progress.

Charlie shows some great touches and seems to have the knack of being in the right place at the right time for his goals.

Another good team performance today's man of the match was Charlie for his goals

Well done boys

Sunday 23/09/07
Wellingborough Town Blue 4 - 0 Rushden Rangers Red

Finally Wellingborough Town Blue gets a game after having the first two games postponed.

Wellingborough started a lot quicker and got settled within a few minutes. Rushden Rangers never really threatened much and when they did get forward Thomas was on hand to sweep away all the danger. The mid-field of Denver , Alex and Charlie worked extremely hard at keeping Rushden stuck in their own half. Wellingborough’s first goal came direct from a corner which Sean took. Sean’s second goal came courtesy of a penalty which was unstoppable to make the score 2 – 0 before half time.

The second half was much the same with Rushden offering very little in attack. All the boys showed great commitment and a willingness to work hard for one another. Alex had his best game in a Wellingborough shirt as he never stopped running all game. Charlie also had a good game showing some excellent skill at times. Denver was made captain for today’s game, he got forward well and helped out in defence and also showed some great skills. Sean scored another two goals in the second half. He has lots of pace and skill and should score lots of goals for this team. Sam in goal had very little to do except to concentrate as he was never really threatened. Thomas was in total control of the defence and it never looked as though they would get the ball past him.

It was a very good team performance. Today’s man of the match was Sean for his 4 goals.

Well done boys and a great start to the season.
