Volta FC 1-2 Wellingborough Town
Goal
Scorers: Kaise, Michael
MOTM:Raph
Wellingborough Town started well and went ahead through Kaise after a well worked corner. Wellingborough dominated during the first half with the two central midfielders MOTM Raph, and Charlie winning most 50/50 balls.
Ben worked hard on the right side of midfield and was backed up by Jack W who played well at right back and made lots of forward runs.
Kaise came close with headers on a couple of occasions, after some good balls from Charlie.
Jack had a great game on the left side of midfield and outskilled his opponenet on several occasions.
Wellingborough Towns second goal came from one such move when Jack whipped ina cross which found the head of Michael for his 32nd goal of the season.
0-2 Wellingborough at HT.
Wellingborough went to sleep in the second half and lacked discipline when it came to defending. The midfielders wanted to get in on the goals and this put pressure on the defenders.
Matthew had a good game at centre back and made lots of important tackles and interceptions. Volta played better in the second half and caught Wellingborough on the break to take the score 1-2.
Jim had a good game at left back and was determined not to let his classmates have the bragging rights on Monday at school.
Ryan chased everything down up front and tried hard to poach a goal.
At the other end, Joseph had very little to do and tried had to use his areas a lot more rather than sticking to his line.
A good game and a well deserved and fought out victory for Wellingborough Town. Final score Volta FC 1-2 Wellingborough Town.

Wellingborough Town 1-3 Grange United
Goal
Scorers: Michael
Wellingborough Town struggled for a side today through one reason or another and just about managed to scrape together 11 players.
Wellingborough started well and went ahead through Michael Dryden after 10 minutes. Grange fought back and were never out of an evenly contested first half, equalizing after beating the Wellingborough Offside trap.
Grange then scored again before the break 1-2 HT.
Grange were awarded a Penalty in early into the second half after a Wellingborough player was judged to have handled the ball. The Penalty was converted to take the score to 1-3.
Wellingborough battled at times but were out played in several areas of the pitch, not through ability, because we put some good passing together at times, but out played through aggression
Grange wanted to win more than Wellingborough and in the end, the better team on the day won.
With two games to go, and fingers crossed a few players back, I hope to see a return to the fight that we showed earlier in the season.

Rushden Rangers - Wellingborough Town
Goal
Scorers: Ben, Ryan
MOTM:Kaise A good game today which was closer at times than the score line suggests.
Kicking with the wind, Rushden were by far the better team in the first half, beating Wellingborough to every ball. Rushden went into a 3-0 lead at half time with two long range efforts that were carried with the wind.
Wellingborough came out fighting in the second half and scored within seconds through a determined Ben.
The game evened itself out with both teams scoring tit for tat, the Wellingborough goal through Ryan.
Special mention to MOTM Kaise who put in a fine effort in defence. Raph also had a very good game in midfield and put in some fine tackles.
Also a last mention to Taylor. Thought you were going to phone me after the cup final mate :O) ?

Wellingborough Town 8-0 Corby Kingswood
Goal
Scorers: Michael 4, Ryan 3, Taylor
MOTM: Brady
A huge improvement in effort over last weeks performance helped Wellingborough to secure a 8-0 victory.
Wellingborough were first to everything in midfield with Raphael and Taylor battling for every loose ball in the midfield and feeding the wide attacking players, Ben and Jack both who looked dangerous in going forward.
Taylor chipped in with one of the first half goals finishing after Jack did some good work on the left.
Over on the right, Ben setup one of Michael's four goals after splitting the defence with a clever pass for Michael
to cleverly run on to.
Ryan had a good game up front alongside Michael and completed a nice Hat Trick.
The defence did not have too much to do, Matthew and Jim each had a half at Left back and both did well, Jack had a good game on the right and was keen to get forward to help with the Wellingborough attacks.
Kaise was solid as ever at centre back and made several penetrating runs through the middle of the Corby defence. Man of The MAtch Brady was solid at the back and showed a 100% improvement in his determination to tackle, win headers, track back and mark tightly. Well done Brady - Keep it up.
I think Joseph had one save to make all game and one back pass to deal with. Needless to say he did not put a foot wrong.
Well done boys, keep it up!

Grammarians 5-4 Wellingborough Town
Goal
Scorers: Michael 3, Ryan
MOTM: Kaise & Michael
A good show of Character by Grammarians to come back from 0-3 down to win 5-4.
Wellingborough Started well storming into a 3-0 lead with two goals from Michael and one from Ryan. Wellingborough even missed a penalty and still looked comfortable.
Grammarians pulled one back before half time and Wellingborough's game went down hill from here.
Grammarians dominated the second half and looked like scoring at every opportunity. The Wellingborough defenders failed to defend, the strikers failed to finish and the midfield failed to much anything really. Grammarians stormed into a 5-3 lead.
Wellingborough woke up at this point and started to play pulling a late goal back through Michael but it was too little too late.
Well done to the boys from Grammarians who showed great character.
Special mention to Kaise and Michael; the only two Wellingborough Town players who played their hearts out and gave everything for the team.

Wellingborough Town 6-3 Danesholme Vikings
Goal
Scorers: Michael 4, Charlie, Jack P.
MOTM:
Jack P
A
good game today with both teams performing well in windy
conditions.
Wellingborough
started this game well, passing the ball in midfield and
keeping possession. With the wind behind them most of
the attacking was coming from Wellingborough who took
the lead through Michael.
With
the pressure that Wellingborough were forcing and wind
behind them Kaise switched from centre back to centre
forward to use his devastating pace. Kaise chased a ball
played by Matthew Percival and stormed through the Danesholme
defence to set Jack up who tapped in.
Wellingborough
came close a few more times with similar moves with Kaise
leaving the defence metres behind.
Danesholme
looked dangerous on the break and with Wellingborough
making some changes at the back pulled one back.
Michael
then extended Wellingborough lead after some good work
by Matthew who made a fair challenge on the Keeper to
win the ball. Danesholme then pulled another back after
some lazy defending from the Wellingborough midfield who
failed to close down a cross / shot which blew in with
the wind.
3-2
at half time.
Kicking
into the wind in the second half Wellingborough struggled
to clear their lines and the game became a bit more scrappy.
Wellingborough
scored through Charlie shortly after the break and Danesholme
pulled it back to 4-3, again with the conditions playing
a big part.
After
some good work from the midfield, Michael beat the defence
for pace before calmly slotting home for his Hat Trick.
Jack
really started to impose himself on the game making important
tackles and some powerful runs forward. After beating
a player in the box his high looping shot was destined
for the roof of the net, the wind however blew his shot
onto the far post for Michael to convert for a poachers
goal.
I
am going to give a special mention to Matthew P who worked
really hard in three different positions during the game,
Taylor who has shown a fantastic attitude during the last
couple of games and Jim who was solid at left back and
missed by the team when subbed off.
A
good game played in good spirit by both teams of players.
Well done boys.

Great Doddington 1-2
Wellingborough Town
Goal
Scorers: Ben, Charlie
MOTM:
Michael
This
was a fantastic game of football where both teams battled
hard from start to finish, and no team deserved to win
or lose.
With
Wellingborough Town not having a game
since November it was not surprising to see Great Doddington
starting the brighter.
Kicking
down the slope, Great Doddington looked for balls over
the top but Kaise did well to thwart most attacks with
his strength and speed.
Wellingborough
dragged themselves into the game with Michael looking
particularly menacing up front with some good breaks and
movement. The Doddington keeper did well to keep a number
of Wellingborough shots from Michael, Zak and Ryan out
of the net.
Great
Doddington took the lead after some poor communication
from Wellingborough on the edge of the box. Nobody took
responsibility to clear a dropping ball from a free kick
and a Doddington player was fastest to react.
Wellingborough
equalized towards the end of the first half. If you wanted
a particular player to score in this game it was Ben who
had been wound up by his Doddington class mates all week.
Showing
determination, pace, strength and a fine finish Ben stormed
through the Doddington defence despite being pulled back
to finish a fine solo goal in style.
1-1
Half Time.
With
slope in their favour, Wellingborough Town thought the
second half would be a lot easier.
Charlie
scored what turned out to be the winner with a well struck
high curling effort that went in from the inside of the
post.
Wellingborough
should have wrapped things up from here but sat back and
failed to win the ball in the middle of the pitch.
With
plenty of chances from both sides both keepers did extremely
well to keep their sides in the game, Joseph in particular
made at least three one on one saves.
Credit
to both teams this really was a good game played in the
spirit of the game.
Well
Done Boys!

Burton Youth 0-6 Wellingborough Town
Goal
Scorers: Ben (2), Jack P, Ryan Zak, Matthew P
MOTM:
Ijuha
An
average game for Wellingborough Town against a hugely
improved Burton Youth team.
Wellingborough
dominated the game but after thrashing Burton a couple
of weeks ago all players had goals in their eyes.
Wellingborough
did not pass the ball well and were very slow to start.
We failed to close down the Burton side quick enough and
gave them far to much time on the ball.
Wellingborough
went ahead in the first half with two goals from Tuthill
and also Percival and Betts.
Burton
have improved a lot over the last two weeks and did well
to keep the score as respectable as it was. Wellingborough
on the other hand looked rusty after a weeks break and
were wasteful in front to of goal.
MOTM
Ijuha deserves singling out as he had a terrific game
in midfield creating many attacking opportunities for
Wellingborough. The often over looked defensive paring
of Kaise and Jack W also did well with very little help
from a lethargic midfield.
Further
goals in the second half from Patmore and Becker wrapped
things up.

Wellingborough Town 19-0 Burton Youth
Goal
Scorers: Michael (6), Jack P (4), Ben (2), Jack

MOTM:
Ben Tuthill.
A
strong performance from Wellingborough Town
gave them a 19-0 victory over Burton Youth.
Wellingborough
Town started well with goals flying in at regular intervals.
To be honest I lost count of the goals at 16 and have
little recollection of the order in which they were scored.
Wellingborough
passed the ball well with width and MOM Ben played particularly
well in the first half, attacking the right flank and
delivering well in to the middle.
Charlie
did well on the left flank with a similar tactic of beating
his defender out wide and delivering in to the three forwards
to finish.
The
three strikers of Jack, Ryan and Michael all did well
and put most of their chances away.
I
do recall an ecstatic Kaise putting away his well deserved
first goal for the club with a net breaker and Imagine
he is still smiling now!
9-0
Wellingborough at Half Time.
The
second half was much of the same for Wellingborough.
With
the wind behind them every ball that was played over the
top or through the Burton defence was a goal scoring opportunity.
The
substitutes of Zak, Matthew P, Jim and Tailor all played
well and did what was asked of them.
Raph
did particularly well in the holding midfield role and
was devastated to be substituted off without scoring.
He did his job well and made his tackles and even a game
like today is not all about scoring goals.
Special
Mention to Manageress Burton who have stuck through some
hard times and tried hard throughout the game.

Wellingborough Town 6-2 Rushden Rangers
Goal
Scorers: Michael (3), Ben, Ijuha, Ryan
MOTM:
Team.
A
good team performance from Wellingborough Town who controlled
this game in difficult conditions.
Wellingborough
got the ball on the floor and passed it very, Very well,
both short and long. This was the difference between the
two teams and this is why the scoreline was as it is.
Jack,
Charlie and Jim were all linking up well on the left with
some excellent quick short passing and movement. Whilst
on the right Ijuha, Ben and Jack W worked well attacking
the space on the flanks with pace and support.
A
back in form Ben opened the scoring early in the first
after he calmly broke clear of the defence and beat the
Keeper.
Shortly
after some good passing on the left between Jim, and Charlie
opened the space for Jack to deliver a cross which was
superbly finished by Michael.
Wellingborough
were constantly threatening the Rushden Rangers goal as
the wind was behind them and every ball over the top of
through the defence looked like a goal scoring opportunity.
When
a ball through the middle was played to Jack he found
himself with plenty of time to pick his spot and shoot.
Michael was in the path of the ball and reflected the
shot into the net.
3-0
Wellingborough Town
at Half time.
With
the wind with Rushden in the second half Wellingborough
changed their shape and played with a sweeper. Kaise did
an excellent job in this role and it has to be mentioned
that he marked the Rushden star player out of the game.
Raph
had an excellent game in defence and made his tackles
as well as supporting the his central partner and full
back when required.
Rushden
pulled one back through a penalty before Ijuha restored
the lead for Wellingborough.
Rushden
pulled another back though a free kick but Wellingborough
were still in control of the game.
After
another through ball found Ryan he scored the best goal
of the game with a chip over the head of the Keeper.
Matthew
P did well in the second half and covered a lot of ground
and all though Taylor did not have too many chances he
played his part for the team and chased everything all
over the pitch.
Wellingborough
wrapped things up with a simple tap in to complete his
second hat trick in successive weeks when the Rushden
keeper failed to clear a back pass.
Special
mention to Joseph in goal who kept his concentration well
during the game and is starting to command his area once
again.
Well
done boys!

started the better of the two teams but Wellingborough
Town grew stronger as the game progressed and
won 3-0 through a Michael Dryden Hat-trick.
Dryden
coolly finished to put Wellingborough Town ahead mid way
through the first half.
1-0
Wellingborough Town at Half Time.
A
second cool finish from Dryden doubled the lead shortly
into the second half.
A
well worked corner was finished by Dryden with a spectacular
overhead kick.
Credit
to Kingswood who showed great character and continued
to battle right to the end.

Wellingborough Town 5 - 1 Grammarians
Goal

MOTM:
Ryan
A
good second half performance lead to a Wellingborough
Town victory over local rivals Grammarians.
In
high winds both teams did well during the first half to
keep the ball on the ground and play football. The start
of the first half was evenly balanced with both teams
threatening. As the game progressed Wellingborough took
more control of the midfield and started to dominate.
Michael
Dryden put Wellingborough ahead after
a fine run from Ben cut the grammarians defence open
1-0
Half Time.
Kicking
with the wind in the second half Wellingborough controlled
the game. Grammarians struggled with balls played through
the defence and over the top of the defence as everything
carried with the wind.
Ryan calmly slotted past the keeper after one such through
ball as did Ijuha.
Wellingborough
were served a taste of their own medicine after not holding
their line during a free kick and getting caught out with
a ball over the top. Kaise slipped the ball past the helpless
Charlie to score an Own goal.
Zak
finished in a goal mouth scramble after a good cross from
Jack in a wide area.
Ijuha
saved the best goal to last after beating the defence
and chipping the Keeper from the six yard box as he dived
for the ball.

Goal

MOTM:
Ijuha
Wellingborough
Town put in a strong performance today to glide past Danesholm
Vikings.
Kicking
down the slope in the first half Wellingborough Town started
well and took an early lead when an Ijuha cross was deflected
into the Danesholm net.
Wellingborough
had plenty of chances to increase this lead with Michael
heading over, the keeper saving well from Ben and Ryan
coming close on several occasions.
Wellingborough
enjoyed considerable success on the left with Jack beating
his man and creating lots of opportunities for the forwards.
Ijuha
scored a further two goals to give Wellingborough a 3-0
lead at half time.
Danesholm
came out the stronger after half time but Wellingborough
were quick on the break.
Ryan
scored after breaking clear of the defence and Ijuha completed
his hat trick soon after.
Zak

Earls Barton 2 - 0 Wellingborough Town
MOTM:
Ijuha
Wellingborough
Town had most of the possession during this game but could
not find the net.
Earls
Barton took the lead early on after the Wellingborough
keeper saw the ball bounce over his head.
Earls
Barton's possession came when their referee (a club member
and not neutrally appointed) awarded numerous generous
free kicks to break up the Wellingborough pressure. A
Penalty was awarded by the referee from the half way line;
Charlie Toon saved the penalty well
1-0
Earls Barton at Half Time.
Earls
Barton relied on 'play acting' in the second half to waste
as much time as possible, with the referee awarding a
Barton free kick even when two of their own players collided
with each other.
Wellingborough
were never going to win this game with the most one sided
refereeing I have seen in a long time. Every Wellingborough
attack which offered any kind of penetration was blown
up for some kind of infringement.
A
second Earls Barton penalty (awarded from inside the Barton
half!) secured the win.
The
Wellingborough Town players can hold their heads up high
and take pride in the knowledge that when we meet for
the return fixture, an FA Qualified neutral referee will
be used by the club.

Scorers: Ijuha, Matthew P, Ryan
MOTM:
Kaise
A
well contested game which ended in a fair 3-3 result.
Wellingborough
Town started well with lots of possession. The Wellingborough
back four of Jack, Brady, Kaise and Charlie held their
line well to catch Grange offside time and time again.
After
a good build up, Ijuha ran on to a good defence splitting
ball from Ryan to beat the Keeper putting Wellingborough
ahead.
0-1
at half time.
Grange
came out in the second half and equalized 1-1. Soon after
this Grange went ahead 2-1 after Wellingborough failed
to clear their lines.
Wellingborough
Town once again showed good spirit with a goal from Matthew,
who found the net after and Ijuha cross / shot carried

Straight
from the KO Wellingborough Town took the initiative and
Ryan put Wellingborough ahead with a well taken finish.

Wellingborough Town 3-3 Great Doddington
Goal
Scorers: Michael, Jack P, Ryan
MOTM:
Team
An
old football cliche but this really was game of two halves.
having played many friendlies and one league game already,
Great Doddington started the much brighter team, whilst
Wellingborough Town were suffering from 1st day nerves
and looked like eleven bunnies caught in headlamps.
Doddington
looked like they were going to score with every attack
with Wellingborough failing to carry out the basics of
the game. Doddington eased into a 0-3 lead and matters
were not helped when Jack and Brady limped off injured.
A
glimmer of hope was offered just before half time when
Ijuha beat the defence and crossed for Michael to tap
home. 1-3 Half Time.
The
second half was a totally different story. The centre
back pairing of Raph and Kaise looked more comfortable
and the fullback of Jack (playing his first game for Wellingborough)
and Matthew more organized and determined.
The
midfield was dominated by Ben and Charlie whilst Jack
decided his injury wasn't quite so severe and caused
problems on the left penetrating the Doddington defence.
It was one such powerful run that gave Wellingborough
the well deserved second when Jack lobbed the Keeper from
Outside the box.
Jim
came on for Michael on the right and Taylor for Matthew,
all of whom had excellent games.
Ben
was incorrectly judged to have been offside and slotted
the ball home following a determined run.
Ryan
finally scored the equalizer after being slotted the ball
from the excellent Ijuha. He made no mistake in getting
across the last defender and putting the ball home.
Wellingborough
came close on several more occasions when the boys fitness
really started to tell.
Many
thanks to all of the parents and supporters who cheered
the boys on.
Excellent
come back, but we really should not have been three goals
down to start off with.
