Wellingborough Town 3-1 Great Doddington White
Wellingborough beat a tough Great Doddington White team today. Wellingborough from start to finish played at a fantastic high tempo which was a great credit to the whole team. Although the first half finished 0-0 both teams played well in a great game, with Wellingborough having most of the better chances. Half time 0-0.
Wellingborough again started very quickly in the second half and went ahead, deservedly, with a goal form Charley. Connor capped a fantastic performance today with the two other well taken goals. The whole team from front to back were outstanding, Charley is always capable of getting a goal or two, Connor, Josh and Solly worked very hard and were excellent in closing Doddington down and putting in some good solid challenges. Ryan M, who has the last couple of weeks played in goal, was superb at the back with some great challenges and used his pace well. Charles was unlucky not to score when Solly put in a good cross and was only inches away, but that goal will come one day! Ryan K was back after his holiday and did well with a Doddington shot that he tipped up into the air and then caught it. Ryan helped the team keep their high tempo by taking his kicks a lot quicker (well done).
Well done boys ….keep it up!

Wellingborough Towns 3-0 Grammarians
Wellingborough Town were back to their winning ways today, with a fine 3-0 win over
Grammarians Youth. Wellingborough started at a very quick tempo and Grammarians goal
Keeper had to pull off two very quick saves in the first 30 seconds. Wellingborough dominated the first half and created many chances but it was Solly with two good goals which made it 2-0 at half time. Both goals were cracking long range efforts beating a very good Grammarians goal keeper.
Half time 2-0.
Again Wellingborough started the second half very quickly and created a lot of chances. Connor was causing a lot of problems running at the defence with the ball, which created space for other players. A neat pass from Solly to Charley, who controlled it well, before firing into the net, to make it 3-0. Josh and Charles worked well in midfield and Solly made strong runs forward which were always a problem for Grammarians. Billy, as always, at the back was solid and a special mention should go to Ryan M who went in goal today and looked like he played there every week and didn’t put a foot wrong. Making two good saves and his kicking was excellent.
A sign of a good team is how they bounce back after a defeat and you were fantastic today, showing real effort and determination.
Well done ….keep it up!

Ferrers Colts 1-0 Wellingborough Town
Wellingborough Town suffered their second defeat of the season against a good strong Ferrers team, in a game that Wellingborough never got going at any stage. In the first half we conceded a soft goal, then we never looked like scoring against Ferrers, who to be honest could have scored more goals. Half time Ferrers 1 Wellingborough 0.
Second half, Wellingborough again were slow out the blocks and Ferrers had the better of the early exchanges. As the game went on, Ferrers were dropping deeper and Wellingborough went close with Connor hitting the post and then again doing well, turning his player inside out before shooting wide of the goal. Charley had one effect that he put wide. In the last couple of minutes we put some pressure on and had a few corners, which credit to Ferrers they defended well.
Taking no credit away from our opponents who played out of their skin, Wellingborough never really got going and it has to be put down to ‘one of those days!’.
Well done boys, you worked hard and never gave up. Everyone at some stage has a bad day……keep smiling and enjoying your football.

Volta 0-2 Wellingborough Town
Wellingborough Town beat Volta FC 3-1 with Charley scoring his first hat trick for this season.
Wellingborough started off strongly again with most of the possession in the first half. We played some good football throughout the game, with Solly unlucky with a shot that just went wide and Connor unlucky with getting the ball stuck between his feet and putting his shot wide, with just the keeper to beat. Wellingborough took the lead through Charley with a smart pull back and shot passed the keeper. Volta equalised through a scrappy goal from a throw in, with our defence unable to clear and the ball ending up in the back of net passed Ryan. Half time 1-1.
Again, straight from the kick off Wellingborough continued to play some nice football and closed down Volta quickly when they had the ball. Charley hit a left foot shot which the Volta did well to catch. The boys in mid-field Josh, Ryan and Connor continued to control the game against a good strong Volta team. With Solly making some well timed tackles and breaking forward with some strong runs. Billy at the back continued his good form with some good tackles and his passing forward was again excellent. Charley scored his second from a pass from Solly, which he put passed the keeper with his right foot, to make it 2-1. Charleys third goal came from the best move of the game, Solly winning the ball in midfield, passing to Connor who was out wide, who pulled the ball back for Charley to hit a left foot shot passed the keeper.
Towards the end of the game Volta put us under pressure with a flow of throw ins and corners, but credit to the boys they stuck to their tasks and defended brilliantly as a team.
The pleasing thing about the game was although Volta are a big strong team and put us under pressure towards the end, Ryan in goal didn’t really have to make many saves, because the boys continue to work as a team for each other. This is why the boys have a proud record of only letting in one goal in six games.

Rushden Rangers Red 0-2 Wellingborough Town
Wellingborough
Town beat Rushden Rangers 2-0 today with goals from from
Solly and Conno .
Wellingborough
had 90% of the ball and created many chances, with some
fantastic football. Only some late tackles and some good
goal keeping made it somehow 0-0 at half time.
Ryan
in the Wellingborough goal had only one save to make,
and what a save it was, with him diving full stretch to
his right and tipping the ball around the post. A save
that you will not see very often in this age group (well
done great save).
Wellingborough
started the second half again with some good passing and
moves. Charles took a short corner to Solly who hit a
screamer passed the Rushden keeper who had no chance.
Connor added a second goal with a nice run going past
two players before slotting the ball home. Ryan M played
well in midfield with some strong runs forward, with Charley
up front always causing a threat. Billy as always was
solid and reliable and broke up any threat that Rushden
gave us.
A
special mention to all the boys, as a team, who come up
against teams that just want to defend and keep the score
down against us, but they never give up and stick to what
they are taught….pass and move, pass and move.
This
has brought some nice comments from opposition coaches
and supporters on complimenting the boys on how they play
football as a team. Great.
Finally……get
well soon Josh!!

Wellingborough Town 3-0 Earls Barton
Green
Wellingborough
Town continued their fine form into the new year with
a 3-0 victory over Earls Barton Green.Wellingborough played
well from the off with the passing and moving a pleasure
to watch. Josh opened the scoring with a chipped goal,
Connor added the second with a shot into the corner of
the net and Charley hit a screamer to make it 3-0. Earls
Barton battled well but never had a shot on Wellingboroughs
goal. Well done to all the boys Ryan K, Josh, Billy, Solly,
Charles, Ryan M, Connor and Charley for an excellent start
to the new year!

Wellingborough Town Blue 0
-2 Wellingborough Town
Wellingborough
Town continued theire good form with a win against Wellingborough
Town Blues(WTB).
The
game was watched with interest from parents, Scouts &
other clubs coaches and supporters.
Wellingborough
started well and settled quickly into the new formation
that was asked from them. Connor was asked to play a more
central role with Solly & Ryan, which gave us a big
& creative midfield who are at their best running
at defences with the ball.
Charley
was asked to play right up on their penalty box which
made their defence deep and hence created space between
their defence & midfield, allowing our midfield space
to run into .This worked well with Wellingborough having
the best chances in the first half .
Solly
had a shot off the line which hit Connor with Sam in goal
beaten, Charley hit a left foot drive which hit WTB defender
Tom and went narrowly into the side netting with again
Sam beaten. We had a few other chances, with only good
last minute tackling by Tom which kept us out. Charlie
WTB had a good shot which just went wide with Ryan in
goal beaten.
Half
Time Wellingborough Town 0 – O Wellingborough Blues
Wellingborough
again started well with our midfield closing WTB midfield
down quickly, which restricted them to long range efforts
which Ryan in goal took with ease.
Wellingborough
again looked dangerous going forward with our pace and
caused problems all game for WTB. Wellingborough took
the lead from a Solly corner which hit a WTB player on
the way in, but with Connor & Charley standing right
behind him unmarked it would have been a goal anyway.
Charles came on for Charley in the last 10 mins and showed
a few nice touches and continues to get better every game.
WTB
forced a couple of corners which were over hit and didn’t
cause any problems to our defence, for whom Billy was
outstanding and didn’t miss a tackle or header all
game. As the game went on we got stronger and stronger
and when Josh hit the second with a sweet left foot strike
inside the WTB area we never looked like losing.
Solly
again hit a screamer which hit Sam, in the WTB goal, in
the face but to his credit he carried on.
The
game finished 2-0 to Wellingborough town and all credit
should go to the players from both teams who made it a
great game to watch
A special mention should go to Mark Baxter who reffed
the game and was fair to both teams and let the game flow.
Cheers

Wellingborough Town 10-0
Vic Farm Silver
Wellingborough
Town won10-0 against Vic Farm Silver in a game which was
played in heavy rain.
Wellingborough
Town started well with josh scoring his first
of 2 goals , with Solly 2 and Connor adding goals before
half time to make it 5-0 .
In
the second half Wellingborough again started well with
Solly scoring 2 , Charley 2 and Connor adding his second.
Ryan
in goal again had little to do all game. Ryan M in midfield
had his best game yet with some strong tackling &
running and was unlucky not to get himself a goal on a
couple of occasions.
Charles again got himself in good positions to get his
first goal and I’m sure it will come soon. Billy
played well in defence with some good tackling and passing
which enables others to get forward..
A Special mention should go to the Vic Farm boys who never
gave up and battled on to the end

Vic Farm Navy 0-2 Wellingborough Town
Wellingborough
Town won 2-0 against Vic Farm Navy in a game
which was scrappy and very slow which seemed every throw
in and goal kick took an age.
Solly
with a brace was the Wellingborough scorer with 2 cracking
goals but although Wellingborough had the lions share
of the play we couldn’t add to the score line .
Charles
twice was unlucky not to score his first goals for the
club with the keeper twice nicking the ball from his feet.
Ryan
in goal didn’t have one save to make and only touched
the ball twice, both were goal kicks.
Billy
again played well at the back with Connor and Ryan in
midfield trying to get the team going.
Josh battled well and showed some nice touches and a excellent
pass through to Charley who had his shot blocked .
This
wasn’t our best display by far but well done to
the boy’s who tried hard and kept going.

Wellingborough Town 7-1 Stanwick Rovers
Wellingborough
Town Continued their fine form with a 7-1 victory against
Stanwick Rovers.
Wellingborough
started the better side creating 5 or 6 chances before
Stanwick on a rare break were given a stone wall Penalty
which their player took well with Ryan in goal unlucky
not to save diving to his right .
Wellingborough
were again quickly on the break with Solly putting the
ball through the keepers legs to make it 1-1,Solly ,Charley
,Connor, and a Billy penalty made the score 5-1 at half
time.
The
second half started off well with a quickly taken goal
kick by Ryan to Billy who switched the play from left
to right to Josh who passed down the line to Connor who
sent over a cross which was kicked out for a corner (no
goal but great play) A Screamer by Solly and a well taken
second for Charley made the score 7-1 with Josh and Charles
working hard in midfield Wellingborough continued to create
chances but were unable to put the ball in the net to
add to the scoreline.
Stanwick
on a rare break made Ryan pull off a fantastic save but
never really looked like scoring until that moment but
credit to Stanwick they never gave up .

Wellingborough Town 3-2 South Rushden
Wellingborough
Town continued their fine form with a 3-2 victory
against South Rushden.
Wellingborough
started well with some nice football. Ryan ,Solly ,Josh
worked hard in midfield with some good passing & moving.
Billy looked solid at the back with his crunching tackling
and passing with Ryan in goal not having to make a save
in the first 10 mins.
Wellingborough
went 2-0 up through a brace from Connor before Rushden
getting a scrappy goal back to make it 2-1 at half time.
The
second half was scrappy with Rushden making a lot of changes
throughout which in turn affected the flow of the game
.
Wellingborough
Town got a third goal through a Charley shot
which flew over the Rushden keeper into the net to make
it 3-1 with Rushden adding a second goal late on to make
the final score 3-2.

Rushden
Rangers Green 0 - 11 Wellingborough Town
Wellingborough
Town again only had six players available due
to holidays but they all responded superbly with a battling,
skilful display. The boys were too strong for the Rushden
Rangers Greens side, scoring eleven times without reply.
It was a really great team performance resulting in Ryan,
the teams goalie, only touching the ball three times throughout
the entire game.
The
highlights were a brilliant lob from Josh, a sneaky cross
shot from Solomon (plus three others), another silky hat-trick
from Connor, a driving, confident goal and game from Ryan
M and the last word to Billy, who is the heart of the
team’s defence. He was able, much to his delight,
to push forward and score two great goals and almost grabbed
a third.
Well
done boys for all your hard work and effort. I have really
enjoyed looking after you these last two games while Geoff
was away.
Thank
you. Derek

Wellingborough Town 13-0 Raunds Tigers
With
the team down to only six players due to holidays and
England being in the Rugby World cup final, todays game
against Raunds Tigers, meant that for the first time,
every player had to play the whole game. However the team’s
commitment in both tackling and passing, with some strong
running, saw the team take a quick lead.
3
goals from Connor and 1 each for Solomon and Josh gave
Wellingborough Town a 5-0 half-time lead.
The players were very excited at half-time with their
5 goals but responded brilliantly to the manager’s
demand for even more in the second-half. Although Connor
deserves a special mention as he finished with 7 (seven),
the whole team played their part, even Ryan in goal, who
saw little of the ball but his kicking was excellent.
Josh and Solomon took their defensive duties seriously,
whilst Ryan M helped break-up many Raunds attacks, then
set the team going forward. We all hoped that Charles
would get his first goal for the club and although it
didn’t happen today, if he carries on improving
and working hard, it won’t be long in coming.
Although Raunds never gave up, Wellingborough kept going right to the end and recorded their biggest
ever win, 13 – 0.
For the record the goal scorers were Connor 7 (wow),
Solomon 3, Josh 1, Ryan M 1, and an unlucky own goal.
Well done boys.
