South Rushden Dynamo 1-2 Wellingborough Town
Goal
Scorers: Jack (2)
MOTM: Jaydon
South Rushden Dynamo were the opposition today and they made us work really hard for our win in what was the closest game we have had so far this year. Wellingborough Town didn’t pass the ball as well as we had in previous weeks but I think that was done to the effort that Dynamo put in.
We started brightly and put Dynamo under pressure with 4 corners on the trot, but we failed to make anything of them with the opposition clearing there lines well and tacking like demons. In fact that was a feature of the match – plenty of hard (but fair) tackles from both sides, a real throwback to proper English football.
The second half looked to be a case of more of the same until the ball broke kindly for Jack Daldy and his powerful run got the finish it deserved and we were one up.
Rahul and Cameron defended well and responded well to instruction from the sideline, but we could do little to prevent Dynamo’s equaliser - a volley from a throw-in – game on.
This game bought the best out of Jaydon, who seemed to be everywhere - winning countless tackles and laying the ball off to feet. This helped us take control of the game. It was a huge relief when Jack took advantage of a poor goal kick and took the ball to the edge of the Dynamo box and slotted the ball home for his second and what proved to be our winning goal.
We played out the remainder of the game with only one or two minor scares and were pleased when the final whistle blew – all those watching agreed that it was a good game to watch (and win).
MOTM – Goes to Jaydon this week – never stopped fighting for the team and played a crucial role in a hard fought victory.

Wellingborough Town 9-0 Rushden & Higham
Goal
Scorers:
Corey (2), Ben, Jordan (3), Joshua, Kobi MOTM:
Corey The lads played really well today they seem to have really got the message about passing and moving.
Rushden + Higham were on the back foot for the entire match and rarely ventured in to the Wellingborough half.
Jordan scored a hat trick and there were goals for Ben, Kobi and Josh too.
Special mention to Corey this week who scored two goals today the first of which was a majestic headed goal following a cross from Kobi so for that reason Corey is this weeks MOTM.

Grammarians 0-4 Wellingborough Town
Goal
Scorers: Ben, Jack (2), Jordan
MOTM: Jack This was our first our first outing of the year – and despite the bitter temperature the boys warmed to the task of keeping their winning record intact against a decent OG’s outfit.
We started brightly and passed the ball well creating numerous chances in the first 5 minutes. Jack Daldy broke the deadlock midway through the half when a fine jinking run resulted in the kind of shooting opportunity that he just does not miss – it was a good way to open our account for 2009. Further midfield pressing saw the ball break to Jordan and he rifled the ball into the top corner from outside the box giving us a deserved 2 - 0 advantage.
Straight from the restart Jack Daldy powered past the OG’s midfield and continued into the box where he cooly slotted our 3rd just before the break.
Jordan volunteered to go in goal for the 2nd half and we kicked off with 3 other changes on the pitch. Corey and Lewis took over in midfield and Cameron came on to perform his sort of sweeper role (which he does very well). We continued to press the OG’s back into there half and tested the keeper time and again, but couldn’t get the 4th goal. Ben was making a nuisance of himself in the OG’s box when the ball broke to him after another long shot, he tucked it away with great delight and another victory was confirmed.
The boys did really well today in the bitter cold especially the defence who did well to concentrate in the moments when they had little to do. MOTM - Jack Daldy.

Wellingborough Town 4-0 Volta FC Puma
Goal
Scorers: Kobi, Jack (2), Jordan
MOTM:Kobi Another very good performance against a ‘game’ Volta Pumas side who certainly did not hold back in the tackle.
Wellingborough Town started very strongly and passed the ball around well with Kobi and Jack in midfield running the whole show. Jack Warmen and Jordan were solid in defence and made sure Lewis had little to do in goal. The breakthrough goal came after 5 minutes, Kobi found himself in space in the Volta half and took aim, his powerful shot was too much for the Volta keeper and we were away. Jack Daldy added a further goal, another powerful shot from well outside the box and we were cruising.
Jordan then stepped up just before half time and unleashed a thunderbolt from the edge of the box that was perfectly placed into the top right hand corner – that’s 2 in 2 weeks playing from defence an excellent effort from a vastly improved player.
The 2nd half was a tight affair with Volta adding a bit of steel to their play, we matched them with Harvey really standing out in midfield – he chased everything tirelessly and made some crucial interventions – another player who just gets better and better.
Kobi (back on the pitch after a much-deserved rest) made it 4 nil late in the 2nd half with another good strike and we played out the remaining minutes without incident.
MOTM – Jordan and Harvey both came close to the MOTM accolade this week but I felt Kobi was the stand-out player following an excellent display of the midfield art capped with 2 fine goals. Well done the team though – still improving week on week.

Wellingborough Town 5-2 South Rushden Dynamo
Goal
Scorers: Jack (4), Jordan
MOTM: Jordan It was good to get back to playing matches following a 3 week lay-off; the boys were chomping at the bit and were certainly taking no prisoners today.
We started the game brightly and played some excellent football, Jack Daldy received the ball in space took it past three Rushden defenders with ease and slotted the ball into the corner in his usual cool manner. Jordan and Jaydon kept things tight at the back and I was impressed with the discipline they showed in ensuring that 1 of them stayed at the back if the other pushed on.
Jack Daldy bagged a couple more before we changed things around and we reached half time 3 up.
We started the 2nd in a bit of a cocky complacent manner and were deservedly punished by two quick strikes, one was an unfortunate own goal following a corner kick that pin-balled its way around the box before nestling in the net!
A few stern words later we were back on track; Jack got his fourth before Jordan hit the best of the game. We were awarded a free kick following the umpteenth dangerous sliding tackle of the game (why don’t all coaches instruct there teams to stay on their feet) and Jordan strolled up and sent an unstoppable missile into the top corner – fantastic stuff! Game over. Another good team effort, all those who played made a positive contribution.
MOTM – For his strong defensive display of nonstop tackling and general bossing of the defensive midfield area Jordan takes the honours this week – all rounded off with his superb free kick. I wish I could hit them like that!

Wellingborough Town 12-0 Raunds Town
Goal
Scorers: Corey, Jack (4), Cameron (2), Harvey, Jaydon, Kobi (3)
MOTM:Cameron
Wellingborough Town had started the season playing some really good football and that continued today with a 12 -0 win over a game Raunds Town side.
Wellingborough Town lined up with Harvey having pulled the short straw for goalkeeping duties in the 1st half. Jack and Kobi controlled everything in midfield with Corey making a nuisance of himself up front. It was a one sided 1st half and Jack opened the scoring after about 5 minutes with a well taken solo effort – this was the spark for us to cut loose, and another 5 goals arrived by half time.
I can’t remember who scored when (they went in quite quickly) but they were all the result of good passing moves – the boys have gelled very well and play football that is good to watch and a level above their age group. What I do know is that Kobi scored a hat-trick before the break as he went in goal for the 2nd half.
We continued where we left off in the 2nd half with almost every attack producing a goal, Jack ended up with 4 and Corey, Harvey, Jaydon and Cameron all registered on the score sheet too. Rahul was very unlucky not to score as he peppered the goal (and keeper) with shots and did really deserve some reward for his effort.
Raunds Town also put a lot of effort in and should be commended for not letting their heads go down.
MOTM – Its always difficult to pull one name out when the whole team plays well (any 1 of them would have been a good choice) but I felt that Cameron had a really good game – he played solidly in defence throughout and still managed 2 good goals whilst making sure that we didn’t concede, a fine effort.

Higham Colts 2-4 Wellingborough Town
Goal
Scorers: Lewis, Jack , Ben, Jack
MOTM: Higham keeper
Welcome to groundhog league – this was our third meeting with Higham in the last month they have all been good well fought matches and Higham really pushed us today.
Lewis agreed to do the keepers duties for the first half and kept another clean sheet but Higham made us work hard for the breakthrough, which came just before halftime when Jack Warman ran on to a fine through ball (from Jaydon I think) and skilfully ‘dinked’ it to the side of the onrushing (+ rather large) Higham keeper. A good end to a tough half!
Jordan took over in goal for the 2nd half. We started brightly and took control; Lewis reacted first to a spilled shot and tucked the rebound away 2 -0. Jack Daldy then rounded of a trademark dribble for our third.
The game was then changed by the foolish Wellingborough Town Manager who made a couple of dodgy subs (at the wrong time) and Higham reacted with 2 well taken goals – game on.
We pulled ourselves together and closed of the game when Ben tucked one away from just inside the box.
MOTM – Now this may be controversial, but I’m going to give the accolade to the Higham keeper – he was fantastic throughout and kept his team in it.

Wellingborough Town 6-1 Higham Colts
Goal
Scorers: Jack 3, Ben, Kobi, Own Goal
MOTM:
A good team performance today and another win to keep the momentum going.
We struggled last year with the early kick offs but suffered none of those symptoms today as we ripped straight into Higham and were 2 up in the first 5 minutes.
Ben started off in goal as we continued last year’s trend of having a different keeper each game (each half actually) as no-one really wants to do it full time!
Jack Daldy was excellent again up front scoring the first 2 and completing a deserved hat-trick in the 2nd half.
Kobi and Jaydon were industrious in midfield (Jaydon went in goal for the 2nd half) and our trusted defensive combination of Jack Warman and Jordan kept things tight at the back.
Ben got two cheeky 2nd half goals and the two other subs Harvey and Cameron slotted in to the side seamlessly and both put in accomplished performances.
MOTM today goes to Jack Warman who defended well and responded to instructions with maturity – a good all round performance; it’s not all about scoring goals and someone’s got to do the bread and butter stuff.

Great Doddington 0-12 Wellingborough Town
Goal
Scorers:
Jack (5), Corey, Lewis, Jordan, Harvey, Rahul, Jaydon, Kobi
MOTM: Jack D
It was good to get going after last week’s washout – the boys were chomping at the bit!
We agreed to play 5 a side as Doddington were a player short – quite happy to do that as the extra space suits us.
We were 3 nil up after about 5 minutes with the team picking up where we left of last season. Jack was very impressive and managed 5 goals despite only playing half a match! Almost everyone in the team got on the score sheet this being the result of keeping the ball and passing fluently – playing as a team!
I felt a little sorry for Doddington, they caught us on a good day – they hit the post twice and missed an open goal so they should keep their chins up and hope for better days.
This was an encouraging start to the new season and a good team show - that said Jack takes the MOTM award for his 5 goals. Apparently he’s on a pound a goal from his Grandad so let’s hope he’s been saving the pennies during the close season as on this showing he’s going to need them!
