Wellingborough Town 12 - 0 Stanwick
Venue Dog&Duck
KO 10.30am
The
start of Wellingborough under 11's season kick off on
Sunday 21st August with a pre season friendly against
Stanwick.
With
a new look side and 6 players making their debuts plus
the lure of offside and full size pitches to contend with
it was going to be a real test for Wellingborough.
After a pre match talk to the lads to calm any pre match
nerves they then run on to the pitch.
The
game start with Wellingborough having most of the ball
and creating some neat movement on and off the ball.
Wellingborough playing as a unit went from strength to
strength as the play was dominated by Wellingborough from
the first whistle.
The
chance kept coming and coming and at half time Wellingborough
went in 5- 0 up.
The
management team off Phil Chowney and Paul Jones were so
please with the first half performance as the team took
what they had been working on from the training ground
and took the step up to eleven a-side very well.
After
a half time chat the lads returned to the pitch for the
second half.
The
game took the same approach as Wellingborough started
off have they had finished the first half.
We
played simple football and with some more good movement
from midfield and the two attackers as the goals kept
coming.
The
back four of Matthew , Nathan, Jack and Daniel was excellent
as any pressure from Stanwick was dealt with .
Jack
Jones our goal keeper had nothing to do all game and probably
only touch the ball 10 in total but i think he will not
be so quiet in coming matches .
It would nice to think he would .
The
final score was 12-0 to the young Doughboys with the goals
being scored by a number of players but special mention
to Tarek would scored 5 goals and to Connor and Rhys pitching
in with a couple each.
An
excellent performance by the whole team but we should
not get carried away it's only one game but we can take
a lot of positives from the match.
Myself
and Paul where very please how the guy's approached the
match and the performance they put on for the small crowd.
They
all should be very proud of themselves .
Our
next friendly is on the 30th August at Raunds who will
test us to see how far we have come.
A
Big welcome to our new players this year .
Matthew
Watts
Connor Davies
Tarek Hajri
Kyle Edwards
Daniel Wade
Joe Kight
Lastly
we all wish a speedy recovery to Liam Chowney last two
season top scorer who will be out of action for the next
8-10 weeks due to a broken arm.
Liam was at the ground on Sunday and watch his new team
mates put a special performance for him.
Let's hope we see him as soon as possible bang in the
goals again for the young Doughboy's.
