UNDER 10's PLAY AT WEMBLEY STADIUM IN MCDONALDS FESITVAL OF FOOTBAL

Mcdonalds who are heavily involved in sponsoring youth football, from training coaches to supplying kits and football equipment, hold a Football Festival annually.

The festival is held at Northwick Park and Wembley Stadium and is open to Under 10 sides by invitation only, and consists of 7 a side football games

Once again Wellingborough Town were lucky enough to be  invited by Perry Akhtar of Mcdonalds , an invite we could not refuse.
On thursday last week in the early hours of the morning  a group of 15 boys and 35 parents and supporters climbed aboard a coach bound for Wembley. Only  a few realised the treats in store for us on arrival,  and we were not disappointed.

Being one of the first to arrive at Northwick Park, we were able to look around at the inflatable football challenges, whilst  Simon Bishop registered the teams at Registration.

Armed with goodie Bags  polo shirts, water and Mcdonald’s  doughnuts secured for us by Simon at Registration, we  were allotted our pitch for the morning. Yes you are right Pitch 10, located in the furthest corner of the ground. But  at least we did have our own personal Portaloos

At the park we played 4 games and our lads were brilliant, winning 3 and loosing one. All the boys played well and it was a great team effort. Also the support from the parents was excellent.
After Northwick we made our way to Wembley, which for most of us was the first visit since the rebuild.

The boys  went pitchside with Simon and Steve where they met Geoff Hurst with whom they had a photo taken, and Michael Owen of YES MANCHESTER UTD.

The boys played one ten minute game on the ground which they won, before walking up the Wembley steps to receive their medals.
Perry Akhtar our sponsor from McDonalds told me that we had beaten his friends team at Wembley Which should give him the upper hand for many years to come.

Following a safe journey home the boys departed in good humour from a day they and all of us will never forget. The day Wellingborough Town won at Wembley.

My thanks go to Simon for all his help in organising the day , to  Simon and Steve for the work they have done with the boys, and the parents for supporting the club, and finally  to Perry for inviting us.

APRIL 2010

WELLINGBOROUGH TOWN UNDER 9
After 3 seasons with Wellingborough Town Jezz Carr, along with Darren Edwards a little earlier in the season have decided to step down from their coaching / Managers positions.

Jezz and Darren had both made a massive contribution to the development of the current Under 9's, and both the Club and the boys are extremely grateful for their commitment over the last few years.

Simon Bishop and Steve Galloway will take responsibility for the team with immediate effect. Both Simon and Steve have been working with Jezz over the last few months and Wellingborough Town wish them well for the coming season.

FA CUP FINAL TICKETS
The Club applied for Cup Final tickets earlier this year and have been allocated the following:

2 x Chelsea @ £65 each
2 x Portsmouth @ £40 each

Getting hold of FA CUP FINAL tickets is as rare as a Spurs appearance so this may be a once in a life time chance for many. I will ballot these off to Wellingborough Town Youth Section members but please bear in mind that the winner of the ballot will need to pay for the tickets at face value.

TWO STRICT CONDITIONS

If you wish to enter the ballot please can you email me your name and telephone number by 19:00 Sunday May 2nd.

Please state your preferred supporters end and if you are only interested in one particular end then please make this clear.

Kind regards,

Please email Martin to reserve your place or call 07817 017053

GIRLS FOOTBALL
We occasionally get asked about football teams just for girls and at this time this is not something that Wellingborough Town can offer.  This has not been down to choice, more down to the fact that we can’t find enough girls of similar age groups to participate in football.

We are currently putting the feelers out to gauge whether there is enough interest in girls football with a view to putting on some training sessions.  If you would like to register your interest in these sessions then please email coach@wtys.co.uk including details of the child’s name, age and your telephone number.

CALLING ALL YEAR 1 CHILDREN - NEXT YEAR UNDER 7
We will start training for your children currently in the Year 1 age group in April (after Easter) when the clocks change and it gets a little warmer.
